they have been selling duff beer in springfield for 15 years or more now-homer cant get enough of his duff

Not tried Duff before, but I see you have chimay. My favourite is the red label. When I moved to Canada I left behind 10 x 70 cl bottles dated 1995, and the guy I left them with didn't want them! Get down to Polperro and he might still have them?

I find fruit beers 'odd', especially cherry!

Yup, there's something not right about being served a beer in a wine glass... I've tried black currant, cherry & peach beers and they were all "too fruity".

Those Belle Vue "fruit beers" are actually lambics. They are fermented by wild airborne yeasts and bacteria rather than by innoculation with a strain of brewer's yeast. This results in a flavor profile that is quite different from the usual fruit flavored beers - usually displaying a lactic sourness and a sort of mustiness. I'm not a big fan of lambics but I do find the flavors interesting. Sometimes old and new lambics are blended to produce gueuze.
