I aquired a Dui Chirra recently and was wondering about the handle. The tang is hidden but doesn't appear to be pinned. How is the handle attached on these? Burned in and glued with laha?

I'll take a stab at linking to the thread: wish me luck!

If it doesn't work, it was the one listed in the 12/30 daily special. It's not a closeup, but look closely and you'll see that there's no metal of any sort visible anywhere on the handle besides the bolster.

My laptop doesn't play nicely with my camera but let me know if you need a closer picture and I'll see what I can do.

The tang on the Dui Chirra does not go to the end. It is usually suggested that if you want to use one of these for heavy chopping, you should drill and pin the handle a little behind the bolster to ensure safety.

Had to stop and look at my Dui Chiarra. AA has it right if you plan on using it hard, just for insurance though. One of the guys here had an old style smaller Hanuman that he never pinned and used it for years until it was stolen from his home.:grumpy:

Thanks for the help, guys. It looked that way to me too, but I don't have anywhere near the knowledge and experience with these things that most of the forumites do and I wanted to hear it from a reputable source. :)

I'm not planning on wailing on the Dui Chirra like I do to my other beauties (the Rose excluded, although she's seen a bit of action), but I wouldn't hesitate to do so if I had to. I don't think UB would use the warranty he does unless it was Satori-proof...or does it have a different warranty?

(By the way, "Satori-proof" is the highest compliment I can pay to a knife, firearm, or any other tool. I think I can break an avil, given enough time. ;) )
