I spoke with Larry Dula concerning the Custom Knife I purchased. He says the steel used is called "1011" and that he purchased it from a West Virginia Knife maker named "Wilson". Dula says that it is a great high carbon steel that users skin 4 or more deer without sharpening. Says he thinks Wilson is also a steel salesman and that "1011" is used in Spark Plug manufacture. But has no contact info. for "Wilson". On the surface I would be surprised if spark plugs used a "High Carbon" steel, wouldn't you??? I'm looking for someone that knows of a West Virginia steel salesman that makes knives, and is named "Wilson". Hopefully there is some un-usual steel designation being used in this instance. It would be terrible if all this effort, talent and time was wasted on a junk piece of steel!! Thank you for replying and I'm still looking for info on "1011" steel & a knifemaker named "Wilson".

That would most likely be R.W. Wilson. Let me check ...

I skimmed through his catalog and didn't see any mention of that steel, but that doesn't mean a thing. Email him or call him and see if he is the supplier and get the low down on the stuff.
