Dull Mnandi

I got my first Mnandi the other day and I think that it is a great little knife, real classy. The only problem is it is dull not even close to being sharp. My large classic sebenza came scary sharp. Did I just get one that slipped through? I'm pretty good at maintaining a scary sharp edge but, is almost impossible to get a scary sharp edge if the knife gets very dull. Does the Mnandi get the same level of sharpness? I would think so considering the same hollow grind but, with a thinner blade. My wife ordered me a edgepro for my birthday hopefully I'll be able to get the level of sharpness that I desire. If not I guess I'll just have to send it in to Chris and have them sharpen it. I've tried to use the Sharpmaker but like I said I'm more of a sharpmaintainer than a sharpmaker. I got it useable now but nowhere near impressive.
It's a bummer since I got a perfect $350 knife with a dull edge:(
 
The edgepro is a lot of sharpner for the Mnandi. I have used my edgepro on smaller knives, but I would first want to try something like the spyderco. The edgepro can remove a lot of metal real fast, when all that may be needed is a few swipes on some sticks.

I wish all it needed was a few quick strokes on the sharpmaker. It took about 2 hours on the brown/medium stones to get it usable and I cleaned the stones frequently. If the edgepro doesn't do it I'll have to send it in. I just don't want to give up my new knife so soon.
 
send it back - get it sharp -be happy!

yep - be patient, get it sharpened, get a strop and keep it sharpened. Its all good.
 
I have 2 Mnandi and they both came very sharp. I'd give a call to CR and let them make it right.
 
pictures please!! thread is useless without pictures!! (thanx!) Before and after pics are worth their weight in gold....!
 
I wish I had access to a camera. The only real access I have to a computer is at work. Why buy a computer and camera when I can use one for free at work and have extra cash to buy more knives.
