Greetings -

I have a wonderful little A.G. Russell lock back with ATS-34 steel that has a mirror finish.

Unfortunately, I really dislike the mirror finish and the way it shows fingerprints. Is there an easy way to dull the finish? I am thinking steel wool or garnet paper?

All suggestions greatly appreciated.

Rub it down with 600 grit paper. Just be sure this is what you want to do. The knives I make are only taken to a 600 grit finish. That is because they are working knives and a 600 grit doesn't show scratches like a mirror finish. Also owner can re-rub with 600 grit anytine they want to restore blade to new like condition. Also they still show fingerprints.
