Hey Guys,

Does anyone have it and if so what do you think? What does it weigh?

Thanks,

Geoff

I do believe JCA21 got one for Christmas, and will have a detailed review after this Sundays BC BUSH BASH

I haven't use mine much yet but it is HUGE. You could carry a month's worth of supplies in it. Also like the padded waist ban as most Duluth packs lack one.

Thanks Guys,

Do you think this would be a comfortable pack for a long backpacking trip with close to 40 pound loads.

Thanks,

Geoff

personally, with that kind of load and long distance travelling i would rather take something offered by osprey, gregory, vaude or arcteryx.

something with a frame and good support.

+1, you probably really want a framed pack for long hikes.

DP packs are canoe packs first and everything else second.

In a word, NO!

Modern technology isn't all bad. I firmly believe in using the proper tools for the job. As Cpl P stated, Duluth Packs are for canoeing. For any kind of backpacking you want something that is light and durable. Most backpackers now days use an internal frame pack. I tend to pack heavier loads and use an external frame, but I think the internal is really the smart way to go.

My advice would be to go to an REI, Sportsman's Warehouse, or similar store. Talk to the salesperson and tell them what you have in mind. They will help you pick out the right pack. I also suggest putting some weight in it and carrying it around the store for a while to get a feel for it.
