Hello all,

A friend recently told me about Duluth Trading, specially "fire hose" work pants. Apparently they are supposed to be neatly indestructible and if they do wear through they will replace them?

Anyone have experience with or know about these? I'm looking for something longer lasting than jeans as work pants.

Duluth has gotten quite pricey since New Yorkers hipsters have found their bags to be fashionable.

Carhartt makes good work clothes at a nice price.

sign up for the mailing list and get 20%off. I purchased a ton of stuff and love all of it. And now they constantly send sales to my email

I had a pair of their fire hose trousers. I managed to wear a hole in them and they replaced them no questions asked

They have good clothes and a great warranty. I have used the warranty twice and was very happy. I had purchased a pair of their work boots and had an issue with the stitching, so they replaced the boots. Had the same problem with the replacement pair and they refunded the full purchase price, no questions asked.

Just a few pair that were recently washed.

As you can see Duluth Firehose pants have been my go to work pant for the past 5+ years. As much as I like them I am looking for a replacement. I've had seams rip (they replaced) the bias of the fabric not matched so it twisted (they replaced) length of pants shrunk more than other pairs (they replaced). As you can guess I have been through my share of Firehose pants and they are still my go to. I really like the Blackladder pants (only non Duluth Firehose pants in photo) but did not fit just right. Gonna try again since they were purchased over 5 years ago. I've also been lusting for a pair of Filson double loggers. Maybe a Christmas gift for myself this year if I'm good.

Duluth Trading .... stealing marketing ideas from Duluth Pack.

Duluth Trading, a 1991 company that's riding the coattails of, and copying, Duluth Pack who have been outfitting outdoorsmen since 1882.

I buy their plumbers (long) tee shirts I have some 8-10 years old, they are faded but not thread bare

Now I just I buy Dickies canvas pants at wallyworld for $23. These days they are tougher than Carhatt's canvas pants.

Are they still worth it because of the warranty though? My friends says one good things about returns/exchanges. And you all seem to support that they wear well.

Plumberroy I also purchase the anti plumbers crack tees with similar results. Heavier weight and long lasting. They are also nicely fitted in the mid section and hold their shape through a days use.
BTW their advertising is brilliant.

I'd like to try some of their stuff on before buying. I used to wear lots of Carhartt, but lost a few pounds a few years ago, and nothing fits anymore. Most of their stuff doesn't come in a small, and the ones that do are much too big. I'm afraid DT might be similar.

Those are decent....but it is turning into a hipster company. Those pants aren't much better than the made in USA Carhartt double front, and not as comfy in my opinion. The made in USA Carhartt is different than the material from the Mexico ones, and they fit better as well. I do like the Duluth Trading heavy coats though.

I'm a ironworker I swear by these pants being on the iron I work around sharp edges and they hold up +1 from me

my favorite pants are the Crye Precsion G3 combat pants. i own two pair. they have excellent removable kneepads.

if you can afford a pair the khaki are a nice color. these are much tougher than any other pant but the fit is what its all about. they have elastic stretch panels around the knees at the small of the back and in the crotch. the 42 longs are long enough for me to wear them around my waist instead of down low, and when you bend the strech panel keeps the waistband in place.

they are very pricey, but are 100% made in USA. that is hard to find these days.

if you do get the knee pads they are fantastic, you wont ever go back to strap on knee pads.

I gave my wife my Duluth Fire Hose pants, they are very baggy on her, and she uses them gardening. I hated the pockets and belt loops on the Duluth....Carhartt double knee unwashed cotton duck pants are pretty near indestructible, imo, and they fit great.

Nothing wrong with Duluth Trading fire hose pants. Carhartt makes good pants. You can really extend the life of any pants by not putting them in the dryer. That's what deteriorates jeans more than anything.

I've been thinking of checking out the new Duluth store that opened up near me. What are we talking $$ wise for a pair of their pants?
