Dumb newbie question: knife opens in pocket

Was sitting down with my Microtech mini SOCOM in my pocket (not clipped, just laying free) when I noticed out of the corner of my eye the tip of the blade protruding through my jeans. Is it normal for a folder to open in a pocket? Do I need to tighten the pivot screw? Am I somehow at fault for this occurring? Thanks for any help...

with the mini UDT... ruined a primo pair of Levi's.

I've never had any problems when the knife is clipped to the pocket, or in a sheath. Other objects in the pocket hit the botton and deploy the knife... so, you either clean out that pocket, clip it to the pocket, or leave it at home...
