dumb question about my Wenger watch

Bought a Wenger Swiss Military watch from Costco a few weeks ago. Can't figure out why the month window goes up to 40. When it gets to the end of the month, it goes from 31, to 32.

Now I'm probably missing something obvious here. :(
 
That's a new one on me. Could there be an international conspiracy to introduce a new metric calendar with ten months to a year? :eek:
