dumb question is there a PE Matriarch??

There was a PE civililian but it is rare.
NGK recently sold out of blue PE Spyderhawks.

Wish Spyderco made more of thier hawkbills in PE with black grips. :(

Heck, I'd settle for pink, just wish they'd do a PE Matriarch. For EDC, a bit of spray paint hides a multitude of sins. Not to mention that anyone who had ever seen a Matriarch and still poked fun at the handle color would deserve to have "Darwin Award Nominee" tattooed on their forhead.

Am off to revise my proposed script for "Kill Bill III" - in one of the chapters Uma will now carry BOTH a pair of SE pink G10 Civies and a pair of PE pink Matriarchs. Perhaps I'll add a pair of pink Crickets for the "fine" work. :D

I thought there was a grey handle plain edge Matriarch made, sold in another country. I remember seeing a pic of it. I think. :)
I'll see what I can find.

Blades

have seen grey handle mats w/SE but never seen/heard of a plain edge version myself, if ya want PE i think ya will have to get a civvy.

The only plain edge Matriarch I remember was that one prototype. (Here's a link to the thread that Blades bumped up.) I can't find any pics of it, which sucks because, IIRC, it had a slightly different blade shape than the production version.

:footinmou :footinmou :footinmou One of these days I will learn that I should never make unqualified statements about anything concerning "Spydercobilia". A couple weeks ago, if someone had asked me "where can I get a PE CF Navigator?", I'd have probably said "no such animal". Today, there is one on its way to me. So a fairer, more accurate, statement regarding the PE Matriarch would be that, to the best of my knowledge, all production Matriarchs were SE. Logic would suggest that a PE "concept model" or prototype of any model might exist, or have existed at some point in time, as adding serrations involves additional work.

As far as the grey ones go, the only ones I have ever seen, which I believe were from the batch originally made for sale in South Africa, were SE. Yet, there is another old thread here that alludes to a "BladeForums" grey Matriarch. I've never seen one of those. Never, before finding that thread, even read rumors of such a knife. Find it very odd that it never gets mentioned in any threads regarding Forum marked Spydercos. That thread, like the one that got resurected, petered out with no defininte conclusion. And yet, its mere existence makes me a bit less certain than I would have been a few days back that a forum Matriarch does not exist. Perhaps, if they do, they are the elusive PE ones.

I'm nuts about PE front lock Spydercos. A PE Matriarch is just one spot down from a PE Spydersaw on my want list. :D So, if one exists "in the wild" and Ren wants it, he will either have to beat me to it, or kill me and pry it from my cold dead fist. :p In the event of the later, I would only ask him to dump the body, well camoflaged, in front of one particular HVAC intake. ;)

I have a couple of those. They are/were the same model as the SA knife with the grey FRN handles. They were only sold the BFC members, max order three, and only in the USA IIRC.

They are unmarked as BCF knives, just the standard Spyderco markings.

Thanks Dwight, that makes a lot of sense. Just to clarify things a bit more, are the grey BFC ones serrated?

thats the ones i have seen, the novelty then on the mat was that spyderco wanted to sell mats only to LEO's, i have an older black handle one and i remember at that time they were kinda hard to come by, not at all like now IIRC. also it came in a unmarked black box w/a label on the end ID'ing it as a matriarch, not a std spyderco box, i posted at the time and was informed that they all came in the black box, again IIRC, has been a while lol.
