Dumb question. Need help

I can not tell which way this axe should be hung. There is still remnants of the old handle, but the wedge appears to be on the wrong end, which is the way that looks correct, but the wedge is in the smaller portion of the eye. I'm still new to this axe thing, please pardon my ignorance. Any help is much appreciated.
Ps. This question is in reference to the double bit axe

I'd say measure the eyes on both ends but usually the mark is read facing the bit when you hold it in your right hand. flip it 180. I could be wrong.

Here is one similar to yours.

Great post on Warren Axe and Tool Company.

I think Agent_H gave you the right answer. Get the wood out, then measure the width of the eye at the widest point (center) on both ends. The smaller end goes down. If something weird is going on, I'd just go with what looks right.

So what's the scoop with the heel of the SB above? Kinda looks like a spot that isn't heat treated. Appears to be monosteel and mostly complete.

I don't know what's going on with the other one. I hope it's not a soft spot because it's nearly perfect aside from discolored area. I'm going to get some vinegar on it and see what happens. If it's good I'll hang it and post pics.
On the db, the problem is that the axe appears to be hung backwards/upside down which was aesthetically correct, but technically wrong due to the orientation of the eye. The wedge was in the small side. I'm going to hang it with the eye oriented the right way regardless of how it looks. Thanks for the help everyone, I really appreciate the responses

There are also reversible axes that can be hung either way. Toes tend to wear the heaviest so it makes sense to be able to flip the axe head and put some of that wear on the heel.

Ok, this makes sense. Upon further inspection, this axe appears to be symmetrical all around. Even the difference in the size of the eye seem to be negligible.

The discoloration on the sb axe is, I think, where the axe was fixed to a clamp or something when it was initially cleaned in vinegar by the previous owner. It darkened right up and looks to be a good, almost unused axe. I'll hang it and post pics

Daaaaaang, it just keeps getting better and better. It always feels good when things work out in the right direction.
