Dumb question re membership

I imagine that ones membership is good for a year after he has paid not on a calender basis,ie: Jan 1 to Dec31..... please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks Nordic Viking.....I just signed on through the old system for a gold membership!
I felt it was about time, this is a great site and I have been a freeloader for long enough........not only that it gives me extra privledges.......heheheh
