Dumb question?

It's been bugging me for a little while now, and I finally decided to make the comparison (as best I could, between a computer image and an actual blade).

What exactly is the difference between a BAS and a 15" AK? They seem to have the same general shape, the same weight... is the BAS just a very specific form of AK?

Part of the difference is that the AK is 'fuller-ed'.

Ah, okay. To my mind, that should mean a deeper belly for the same weight...

Fuller and wider blade -- the AK should weigh a quarter pound more.

It should? Okay, somehow I got the idea they were both in the 21-23 ounce range.

The spec weight on the 15 inch AK is 1.5 pounds. Sher has sent some that were over two pounds. Current models are coming in at 1.25 to 1.5 pounds. The kamis make what they feel like.
