Dumb question....

I was just curious...I really wanna get rid of my CRKT P/K Companion fixed blade...but I don't want money for it. I just want it GONE! Its relativly new...needs sharpening...I only have 2 sheaths for it. The necklace is gone and so is the cord. And I think the tip is a little bent or something. (Not bad at all).

So I was thinking about the trading forums...and I really don't know if I should post there unless I have a good idea of the value of some knives. So my dumb question is:

Would a good trade be the CRKT PK Companion for a SS Spydie Cricket? What if I threw in like...15 bucks? If this is a crappy trade, someone let me know!

If they are both in the same condition, the Companion plus $10.00 to $15.00 for the Cricket sounds like a pretty good trade.

Throw up a post with what ya got and what you want. I am sure you will get some decent offers. BUT be warned!!! Trading can be addictive. It has taken me a full year, but between giveaways and trades, I have my entire collection whittled down to all keepers :)

Could someone explain to me how it works over there at the trading thing? I mean...how much for shipping? Who sends first?

Basically, Im kind of weary about posting there just yet, seeing is how I don't really know how things go or if I can even get a brand new or semi new spydie cricket for what I have. :/

Maybe I should post somewhere else and just SELL the damn thing. I really dislike this knife and would like it to vanish. Hell, I don't even know what to ask for this knife!

Well each party pays for there own shipping unless otherwise arranged to ahead of time. Ussually the two parties ship at the same time unless one of the guys is new with no feedback, then the other party might ask that you ship first. The best thing to do is to post what you have and see what is offered.

well, i would be interested in trying out a CRKT.

unfortunately, i would'nt have anything to offer in trade. I know you said you don't want cash for it, but that's about all i can offer you, so if you decide on a value for the knife, feel free to email me,
and maybe we could arrange something. (i.e. i'd send paypal, then you ship)

As far as trading goes, i've done alot on Overclockers.com forums. The typical rule i go by is using feedback to determine who ships first. Here is my example: http://www.heatware.com/eval.php4?id=7498
That's my feedback @ heatware, 20 positives.

So, let's say i was trading with you, if you had 21 feedbacks, i'd ship first, if you had 19, you'd ship first. Altho to be honest, i usually just suggest cross shipping (both send at once). Then, make sure you get a delivery confirmation, and return reciept from USPS. That's proof you sent the merch. and that they recieved and signed for it. Insurance is a good idea too.

That's the basic ideas i've followed in all my trades, regardless of the place. If you can deal with someone who has a good reputation, then you have little to worry about. It's the "unknowns" who may screw ya, typically not ppl who've been a good part of a community for a year or three.

as far as trading you could say...

"Hey, i have xxxx knife, and two sheaths, in xxxx condition.
i'm open for trades so make an offer!

i'd be really interested in partial trade +cash for xxxx or xxxx in xxxx or better condition"

Hope this is helpfull. plus it's good to post a picture of your item.

edit:
and always be very clear on any defects or damage any article may have! don't leave out any details because the buyer may be picky and you don't want anything to come back and bite ya on the ass.
That said, i'm not very picky, tho i expect things "as advertised" so i always treat others as i'd expect to be treated.

Thanks gonzo! All that advice was really good! I'd be willing to shipe this CRKT out to you if you'd like. I'll take cash...its not biggy.

This is really weird sounding, and I know some of you wont buy it. But Im trying to get money to buy my girlfriend a SS Cricket. ITS NOT FOR ME!!!

So I would want one new to give her as a present. So I guess you could be doing a good deed by hopefully creating a new knife nut!

Email me Gonzo. duneman_x@hotmail.com

For the price point of the knife, why not make a friend happy and "give" it to him.

You make a better friend, he gets a knife as a gift and it furthers the knife culture we all keep alive and well through our generosity.

If you read my last post, you would know why. :P

But, honestly. If I wasn't trying to get this knife off my hand and get a cricket in my Girlfriend's hands, I would raffle it off to someone. Or give it away.
