Dumb sheath question--

I understand the strap at the bottom is a leg strap, but what in the world are the antler tip for -on this sheath?? One tip looks tied in and one looks like it is adjustable.

Wow You wouldent happen to know the makers name of those knives Ive come into possession of 4 of them
a small one like yours, a skinner, a filet knife, and a big bowie in separate sheaths. Each with the antler tips

When I got them the bowies wraped around and the antler tips kind of locked in to keep retention even though it does have the snap as well
