i can think of a hundred titles for this thread. i tried to stay away from the ones that describe my stupidity. last night i was opening some boxes with my sebbie. the packaging was thrown into a dumpster. this morning no sebbie. so into the dumpster i go, hey it is a sebenza. the happy ending is my knife is still mine and no worse for the wear. and i guess i have a new knife story. can any of you guys top that?

Someone once forced about fifty beers down me at an outdoor party, and I accidentally dropped my BM705 off a dock at night into a stagnant, nasty pond. Inhibitions what they were, I proceeded to jump in to find it. A little careful feeling around with the feet finally produced it. Yuck...

Needless to say, lanyards have their purpose.

I'm not sure if I want to top the list of stupid Sebenza accidents, but this happened to me a few weeks ago. It was posted to another forum...

I'm pretty good at not cutting myself most of the time. But I guess when you mess with blades as much as I do, it's bound to happen time to time.
Last night while reading the forums I had an accident. Often while sitting at my desk, I will have a Sebenza in my left hand just to practice opening left handed. I have a mouse that works with a rollerball, so I can have it in my lap or on my leg while I'm surfing. Well, not paying attention the mouse, it started to slip off my leg and fall. My lighting quick reaction to grap it forgot to remind my brain that I still had my large wood inlayed Sebbie in my left hand. Of course it only took a second to realize that my right thumb caught the blade and not the mouse. A not such a great place to have a cut/slice taken out of your thumb, it's on the left side of the nail up at the top. I didn't really cut it so much as fillet it at an angle.

Oh well, another notch in handle for stupididness on my part. I guess it goes with the territory. At least it was done with a Sebenza as opposed to some cheap fatory knife. Not that I have many I'm glad to know that my sharpening techniques are in order. This is my california maple burl inlayed 2000 Sebenza, with duel studs and a swedge. I love this thing. Between this and my Damacus Mnandi, it's all I carry...Carefully from now on mind you
