Who's got these? They look like an interesting solutuion to carrying large blades. Pictures and/or your impressions would be very helpful as Im debating getting one. And an off topic link to honor an all time great cinematic event. Haha, gotta love 1:30 and of course the end...:p

I have got two of them, one for my SHBM c/o ChuddyBear (actually the first Dundee rig he ever built) and one for my FBMLE c/o Dwayne Puckett (Armoralleather). I love them. Knife is readily accessible and you don't begin to feel the weight like you would if the knife was hanging off your belt. Of course, the way those guys make their Dundee rigs, you could opt to hang the sheath from a belt simply by removing the strap. IMO, you really can't go wrong with a Dundee rig.

Roger that, the knife being removeable makes them very appealing. "Dundee" kept his knife straight up and down on the small of his back, is that common place for Dundee sheaths? Looks cool, but risky for a big knife, i.e. falling out handle first tip up. Or does the knife ride on your ribs at the left elbow region for a righty?

Heres one that Dwayne built for me a while back. Kydex/Leather Fusion Dundee rig. Apparently I turned into an idiot one day and thought it would be a good idea to sell it.

Well worth the wait. Dwayne makes some of the finest leather sheaths that I have seen and have. Dwayne and Stacey are good peeps in my book.

Sorry for the non-Busse content, but this is the only pic I have of one being worn:

this is a huge knife, 12+" blade.

I like the dundee rig sometimes, but want the belt option too. I notice if I have a backpack on, and a rifle sling on the shoulder, the dundee rig is too much, the knife would be better on the belt. But if I'm just piddling in the woods with a huge knife, the dundee style works out very well.

I have my AK-47 in one of Dwayne's leather/kydex fusion Dundee rigs, but it does not seem to hang right. Maybe the length/weight of this blade is not well suited to that style carry, or maybe I don't know how to wear the darn thing.

Thank you VERY much for the heads up RoNNiE! :) I will let the wife (webmistress) know about that, we havent had 14 months wait for a while now.

Little things like that are so easy to miss yet cause so much confusion. Thanks again! :D

Did I send you one of my "balance retainers"? It is a snap strap that goes around the handle about four inches or more up from the ricasso and dramatically helps to balance out that heavy handle. I discovered this in the past few months so you may not have one. I have a pic somewhere, I'll post one when I find it.

Another thing I've discovered that helps a lot is getting the strap to cinch up firmly around you. It makes for less wobble thus more comfortable wear. Another recent epiphany. :o R&D has been wonderful in the last year, the HOGS have been very fourthcoming with their reviews and testing on the Dundee rig, and thats helped all of us sheathmakers improve our product. I've worked especially close with xaman on the Dundee rigs as he has asked all the right questions! :D Thanks Eli and all those who have helped out. I know we will keep improving and adding to the rigs to make them work as I feel its one of the best ways to carry a very large blade.

Dwayne is absolutely right, when you get the point of contact between the strap and the sheath up as high as possible on the handle, it balances WAY better. I learned this the hard way on a ruck sheath, but Dwayne's advice has made all the difference in the world.

GregS -- "Dundee" kept his knife straight up and down on the small of his back, is that common place for Dundee sheaths? Looks cool, but risky for a big knife, i.e. falling out handle first tip up.

Here's one I did for a Silent Knight, notice the 2 retention straps, so it can be worn upside down without worrying that the blade might fall out --- important if you find yourself running through the woods chasing deer like the openning scene from The Last of the Mohicans :D :D

Notice also that the strap is tightened up as far as it will go, and I actually could stand to go back and make a few more holes. Again Dwayne is right, tighten that sucker up for a snug ride.

For me, I prefer the latter carry option here, but as xaman posted above, you can do it either way.

here's a cheap quick version with a mashed cat sheath and a strap off a small duffel:confused: or something I found lying around

I definitely do not have this piece for my sheath. Can you ship it with the next batch of sheaths when you finish them? Thanks.
