Durability of Benchmade's Axis Assist?

I have a 581 Barrage which uses the Axis Assist. I like the quick deployment but it's very snappy / a bit harsh which makes me wonder if (over time and extensive usage) the system has any issues with long term reliability / durability?

These things are built like tanks. Between my Volli and larger 580-1102 Barrage there have been countless cycles of the lock without issues. The lock actually gets stronger once it wears in. So far I've had no problems at all.

I appreciate your response and that's great to hear. I love the 581 and plan to carry / use it quite a bit...and hopefully pass it on to my son one day.

I've had mine de-assisted by benchmade. Let me tell you , the knife was meant to be manual! it flungs open just as fast without the coil spring and the blade closes smooth and instantly just by releasing the lock! A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! it feels like it's worth at least 100$ more like this lol

I have three assisted Benchmades. The 585, the 470, and now the 490. I've had the 585 Mini Barrage the longest of the assisted BMs and I used it as my EDC for about 18 months. Snaps open today just as well as it did new, and I've never had problems with the AXIS locks on any of my BMs. Besides if it wears out or breaks BM will fix it for you.

I have 3.......665 is only a month old, but the 581 and 477-1 each have at least a gabillion cycles each and are still going strong!
Excellent blades!!
