Durability of Leather Inlays?

I'm thinking about getting a large Classic with leather inlays for my duty EDC. How durable are the inlays? Can they withstand exposure to water? Finally, are the scales polished around the inlays like my woodies? Can't tell from the photos I've seen.

Thanks,

I cannot comment from personal experience, but noted that Tom Mayo carried a large classic inlaid with leather that he called his "beater", when I first met him at a knife show. He seems to live in what one would consider a moist environment.

Thanks Geode, just wondering how much of a beating a "beater" can take. Can anyone else offer some insight?

I have also read that it is Chris Reeves EDC as well. I wouldn't submerge it in water, But I wouldn't be that overly worred about it

Well thanks for the replies, guys. Rather than worry about the durability of the leather, I popped for the extra money and ordered a large Classic Woody with rosewood inlay. I KNOW rosewood is tough. Guess I wanted another woody anyway.:D
