Hi!

The subject already says it all... how durable is the color on the Leatherman color Micras? Does it wear of easily (fade) and/or does it scratch easily? Does it look bad after a week in your pocket with the keys and stuff, or does it still look very good after many months?
Btw, how is it done?

Hugo.

I don't know the answer to the question. But I didn't know that they made them in color and have yet to see one. Maybe I will soon.

The color on the micra scratches off pretty easily.I used my fingernail to test it about a month ago.

It scratches real easily. A friend of mine has one and it showed severe scratching after like 3 days. My advice is get the shiny steel one and not the anodized ones.

The color on the handles is a coating that chips and scratches pretty easily. My red Micra looked so piebald after a couple of days on my key ring that I sanded off all of the coating that hadn't come off yet -- interesting effect, since the numbers and inner handles are still red.

Get the plain stainless finish unless you like sandpaper.

Yup, it's not anodized. Mine started scratching within a couple of days on my keyring. Very disappointing.

Mine came off in about 5 hours. I used the sandpaper too, so now the numbers are blue and the rest has a nice 2000 grit polish. To do it over again though I would go with a plain one.
