Durable cargo-style pants?

I don't know if this is the right forum for this, but does anyone know of any brand of cargo pants that are of durable material, esp. in the pocket areas? I regularly wear cargo pants, as they are comfortable and convenient, but the ones I have (Wrangler), have material that wears very easily if I try to clip a knife to the pocket(s). Even a fairly smooth-handled knife (CRK Sebenza or SS Spyderco) will quickly wear the material, and it looks bad at work. So I can't clip knives to my pockets for now.

At least I'd like some cargos that look decent and will resist this type of wear better. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I hate the Wally World wrangler cargo pants - shallow pockets and wear out quick.
I've had really good luck with Eddie Bauer cargos off their clearance rack.
Another good one is my Duluth Trading fire hose work pants - thick, heavy fabric, but not stiff - and an "if you can wear a hole in em, we'll give you a free pair" warranty. not cheap, though.
Another option would be the Riggs brand cargo's - a buddy of mine swears by their ripstop fabric.

5.11 has some great cargos with reinforced parts on all of their pockets specifically designed for knife clips! Kinda pricey though...

I'm wearing nothing but BDU's from bdu.com. Get a set of cotton for summer and a set of poly-cotton for winter.

I have been wearing these for a while now without any noticeable wear. While they are a little on the pricey side I like the reinforced Right Front Pocket (front and back pockets very deep) and the ripstop material, which is thicker and heavier than denim. They are kinda a combo cargo/carpenter as far as pockets go. Solid stitching, buttons and zippers.

Almost forgot knife content, my FG Manix is almost impossible to get clipped over the RFP, also deployment takes a very secure tug and pulls my pants along, while my mini-rukus slides right on and off no problem.

Jim,

You have no idea how much research I've put into this! I've got three pairs right now, 5.11 Tac-Lites, Tru-Specs 24/7's, and Vertyx Combat pants. The 5.11 and Tru Specs are very similar in price point, however differences lie in the design. Tru Spec's cargo pockets are better except for the flaps, which I feel should be reversed direction. Their accessories/knife pockets are very narrow, and I don't carry small enough knives-I doubt a larger folder could fit. Their magazine/cell phone pockets are perfect! 5.11's material is superior when new, but the teflon starts to wear out after awhile-they're permamently stained where I trudged through some mud. Their rear pockets are very easy to access, but their cargo pockets are nothing great. Now Vertyx nailed it. They've got a concealed carry pocket, and these pants were designed with Arc'teryx, and it shows. Everything is low profile, and they are very discreet. Vertyx costs 60 bucks, and it's well worth it. However, they aren't teflon coated, probably omitted to keep costs down. Both the Tru-Specs and 5.11's are coated, and water just beads off. I haven't had the opportunity to get my Vertyx' dirty yet.
