hey all,
Been training vigorously with with my fox karambbit trainer to get my "edge" back & am starting to look for a good folding karambit.

My problem is that do do the design, it has a very fine tip that can be easily broken. happened with both my emmerson and the fox that matches the trainer .

anyone have a suggestion for a sturdier folding karambit?? production or custom maker

anything would be helpful, thanks

Go custom. Plenty of great makers on here...Wegner blades comes to mind.
But if you want a fine tipped karambit as in my opinion the blades should have it may always be "fragile" compared to other knife designs. I would say avoid using the tip...I have one of the Emerson Karambits and the tip doesnt feel like it would break unless I hit something I shouldnt be hitting with a karambit.

alright, good to know . my Emmersons tip broke cutting manila rope of all things

Was it free hanging or was the blade pushed into something harder than rope? I dont see it happening, and if it happened to me I would contact the Emerson crew. They seem to be pretty good about their warranty - but they may say that the knife is not designed for anything but self defense.
Anyhow I dont know the Circumstances and I dont know how hard or what thickness the rope was, but the tip breaking off from cutting rope sounds odd. I haven't used the knife much, but the belly seems like it would be a more effective place to initiate a rope cut anyway.

The Fox is fairly durable. My coworker has one and we just demolished some boxes (me using my karahawk).
Tip does hold up.

We taped sandpaper (loaded with 400 grit powder off my gesshin stone) on a plastic tube to sharpen.
