I know you didn't ask about this other finish, but have you considered Birdsong's black -t or green -t finish? It would be a little bit more expensive than the two you suggested, but from what i hear it is hands down the best finish for any type of metal... Here's an article on it. Not sure if they still do knives or not , but they used to.. This isn't just a coating, but actually changes the chemical makeup of the metal to my understanding...

As far as your question between the two (duracoat vs cerakote) i would say cerakote definitely... I only have experience with the air dry cerakote (c-series)and duracoat... Duracoat chips, cerakote just wears. They say that as far as durability goes though, the thermal bake on cerakote (h-series) is even more durable from what I hear.... Just make sure you prep right. Hope this helps!

I have a variety of guns coated with both. I doubt you'd notice any difference between them as long as they were properly prepped and coated.

I have worked with most all spray coatings and can say that Cerakote with out a doubt has out been on top of the wear, resistant pile every time.
