So I got a becnhmade 710 and noticed that no matter how often I oil up the blade it still pits. (personally Iv noticed that bechmade doesn't treat there steel very well leaving it very prone to rust). So I wanted to get it up-armored with the skull patter. My first question is how will the duracoat hold yup if its contently sliding through cardboard and wood. I know people say "they use it on guns it must hold up" but the guns arn't cutting things they shoot and mabey occasionally get in the dirt. So if I do get it duracoated is up-armored the best place to do it? its 70 dollars to duracoat the 710 is anywhere cheaper while not giving up quality in the job?

call up benchmade, you can get the blade replaced with the coated blade (iirc it's the bk1 coating) for $35.

No I havent. Iv just been use a micro fibber cloth to whip it down with oil. Ill look into it. Can you buy at any hardware stores?

What kind of oil are you using? I use just a dab of mineral oil on mine, spread over the blade so that it's just a very fine film coating, no rust.
