I've been using this dust collector on and off for a few years now:

However, recently, I've noticed that in just 30 days, the bags are completely clogged (no where near full), and suction is pretty much non-existant.

Anyone have a recommendation for a better one that doesn't get clogged on steel and micarta as quickly?

Any experience with these?

Does this actually work?

Thanks!

Yes the filter will do alot better job, smaller micron filter. It also has a cleaner built in so it will stay cleaner longer and not stop up as fast. I just do wood dust so can say about what you are using.

Check the inlet screen where your tubing connects to the dust collector. It can get clogged easily.

Thanks for all the replies!

Bill, you just saved me a bunch of money. I disconnected the hose and there was literally 5 inches of solid dust compacted in there. I shook it out and the dust collector is working like new. Thank you! :)

I'm going to be moving in the months to come. In this place I have a set up that just shots it all outside. The real heavy suff drops into a water pail. Does this produce a huge fire hazzard? I know it's in the room with you so you can see if a fire was to start but what if your out to lunch or will you be? Frank

Bill, You know a lot of stuff and have a lot of humor to share as well. Yes, if you were nearby, within a couple of hundred I sure would ask for a visit. Frank

I took the bag off and vent mine outside of the shop, you get alot more suction.

This is what I ended up doing too. For metal I just put the dip bucket under the grinder. Hot sparks may cause fires with any vacuum system that uses wood too.
The wife bought me a remote control for my vacuum for Christmas. Its so handy to turn it on and off from the grinder now.

As Page said, the Dust Deputy really works. I have one on my shop
vac. I've emptied the DD 5 gallon bucket twice and there is just about
nothing in the shop vac. Just a light dusting. Nothing on the filter at all.

It's worth the bucks.

Thanks !!! I've been very concerned. I know I will have to go to an inside collector and want it on for metal as well. Frank
