Dust deputy and belt grinder

setting up shop and concerned over air quality. Thinking a Jet air filter for the ceiling and a dust deputy over a shop vac to move around to the various tools. I can use a water bucket under the grinder but wonder how to capture more dust as it’s created. Perhaps a catchment basin under the grinder with a vacuum fitting the draws the dust in. Wonder about sparks on this hose though. I’d appreciate any thoughts from those who’ve tackled this issue.

Uze a metal dust deputy cyclone under the grinder with 1" of water in the bottom. Make a rectangular "funnel" from a metal vent fitting (Heat and air section of Home Depot) to direct the sparks and grinding dust into the deputy intake. Place the hose of a shop vac or dust collector on the bench near the grinder and let it run while grinding. it will suck up a lot of the fine stuff that gets tossed around.

This is how to use a woodworking dust collector to keep dust down in the shop.
Place the standard tank of water under the grinder with the same type rectangular funnel going to it. Place a shop vac or dust collector hose about 3" out of the path of the sparks to suck up the fine grit as it heads to the dunk tank. When grinding wood or non-sparking materials, move the vacuum hose right up to the swarf path.

I think I understand. So, use the air register as a funnel and hook the deputy's suction hose to the bottom of it to draw everything into the cyclone? I think I can do that. Thanks for the help and the quick response. I will let you know how it turns out.

I have a bucket under my Platen, shop vac hose dangling 5 inches from the top, dust/sparks go down and hit the bottom of the bucket, and when they fluff up and start to rise the shop vac sucks most of it up.

Here's mine

Aluminum box has water in it, other side of blower vents outside to a steel bucket. I slide the box under my buffers when needed also.

I also wear this while grinding and buffing. I put the compressor outside for fresh air.
