Hi, fellow sharpeners:
I have a couple of the big Smith's diamond stones, coarse and fine. They work, great, but they are really dusty right now. The dust gets all over my hands, but it doesn't seem to wash off very easily, even with soap and a scrub brush.
I thought the dust was from the knives, so I put a big magnet over the stones to suck the dust off. Not one spec of dust stuck to that magnet, which means this dust must be from the diamond coating.
The instructions say you should clean them occasionally. Any ideas on a better way? Will all this dust reduce the ability of these stones to sharpen? They still seem to work really well.
