Hey guys,

just received a package from my friend and fellow Dutch bladesports competitor Martin Swinkels (http://martinsheaths.blogspot.com) containing a rescue orange kydex sheath.

After Martin expressed his desire to see more action packed videos on my (humble) youtube channel, I responded by saying he could make me a sheath and I would do a review on it on my upcoming trip walking the scottish west highland way.

Being as easily challenged for a good thing as I am, he took me up on it

After some talking we decided on a kydex rescue orange to match my rc-4, with a firesteel pocket and the possibility for a backpack shoulder strap carry as well as a belt carry. A teklok was also provided for this. I loved the shape of the sheath as found on his website (check out the goodies boys!!) so he made me that one.

The color matching is perfect, lockup is tight, the belt loop has a littlebit of flexibility (so it's not rigid, I like it)

So, I'm a happy dude at the moment, can't wait to do some field testing on it. I'll have a full review on my channel about the second half of may, so I'll report back then.

for now, these pics will have to do.

Thanks a lot Martin, much appreciated!

enjoy the pics boys and girls

Excellent! I was on the fence as to getting orange or not. This may have just done it for me!

Can't wait to see your reveiw on this sheath. Put it thru some harsh test. How secure it is. Wll it hold it's color after being sunlight for some time. Will adequately drain after being submerged in water. THX

I like the fact that it looks like serious business:thumbup:. Looks like a hardcore search and rescue tool

Beautiful work - lovin' that OJ. Martin is working on a couple of items for me and it is great to see some of his work in the interim. You are fortunate indeed! Congratulations!

wow that's awsome... i really like the orange combo
jup, I love orange and it's totally awesome how the colors match

Hope it won't rust away on me because of the constant scottish drizzle :)

I hope I won't have to search to much for it when I lose it because of the orange lol. I think the sheath gives it lots of character and a more 'serious look' than the original one

Yup, thanks :)

Sweet - I just got an "orange" RC-4...now I want a sheath like that!!
Get one.

I really don't like the standard sheath since I cannot configure it the way I want to. I want to be able to wear it on a belt with a backpack strapped on. In my experience with the rc-3 this was constantly in the way of the backpack waist band. this sheath is more for my functional requirements.
I do believe the rc's come with an option to buy a more configurable sheath though, with teklok etc?

Well, if i were you i would fondle that knife with the sheath all day long on Queensday :D

I have my first martinsheat also last week! (with my RC3 MIL) to bad its a lefty so i wont be using it :(. But the sheath feels and looks amazing!

yeah, that will get me busted very quickly when I fondle it out on the streets of Amsterdam ;)
how do you mean, it's a lefty? the knife (nah, it's a fixed blade), the sheath?

Yeah the sheath ;). that is made for left belt carry :(.

This is the third orange ESEE I've seen today... I'm getting twitchy. I really, really don't need any more blades

Thanks for sharing, zyhano. That sheath looks great, and I think Martin did an awesome job of matching the orange and green for you. I just put in my order for a Martinsheath of my own, for my RC-3. I can't wait, especially after seeing more examples!

Another show of great craftmanship by Martin. The orange combo is realy something different and very nice!
Any chance you can a Lite Machete kydex sheath Martin? I might be able to drop by for the fitting.

Awesome combination....
I love orange (but I'm biased, I'm dutch too)!

You guys will see allot of orange with the soccer championship coming up! ;)
