I have no idea where to put it so i will try it here, feel free to move it :)
So this a question to all the dutch guys and galls.
Where do you peeps hike or camp. Especialy in the west(noord-holland). The few forests we have here arent that big. A days walk in any given direction and you're in the civilized world again. Starting a fire or making a shelter will probably have your ass kicked out by some sort forest ranger. I really want to go out and some bushcrafting, but around here its more urban survival.

LOL
Most of the time my family travel. (the ones who still live in Holland)
I live in north Ga. so its easy for me :)

There are a few Dutch forumites who post here regularly, hopefully they will show up soon with suggestions.

You are framing the problem too narrowly. Brits and some other Euros and US have
similar problems. In particular bicyclists have this problem, as do hobos.

Google on : stealth camping

Google on : Dakota fire pit

Consider a small alcohol stove, or a fire pan, or can/barrel fire. A purpose made, air tight,
small wood stove, made from thin scrap sheet metal, might be needed.

The most obvious give-away, that leads Cops to you, is your parked automobile.
In some cases, they could tow the car, or put a ticket (summons) on the car without ever
seeing you. That is in USA, and do not know how tickets work elsewhere.

Hey Basb, Spaarnwoude is pretty big. Also, the Utrechtse heuvelrug is very nice too. Making fire and shelter is probably not a very good idea. Perhaps with a Dakota fire pit it could be done. DPit
There is no wild camping allowed in Holland unfortunately but the next best thing are the natuurkampeerterreinen van staatsbosbeheer. Buy het groene boekje and find the most quite campground in there.
Last week we did an overnighter on one of the grounds and it was very nice. Lot's woods to hike as well. This was at Kootwijk.

In my part of 'Holland' there are many places .All along the Hudson River from New Amsterdam to Albany !! Still many wild places where you can cuddle with bears , etc !

How could i have forgotten Spaarnwoude(living in Assendelft). Its a 30min bicycle ride from my home. Mountainbiked there for over 6 years and still do sometimes. Heck even been there 2 weeks ago with the scouts.

Guess my mind was to much set on the bush and the wilds.
Will check out Het groene boekje.

Pretty much the only way to practise wild camping and bushcraft in England is to make an arrangement with a landowner/farmer with private woodland. Perhaps you could do the same over there?
