i have a fairly new (~1 yr old) RCA DVD player, an entry level one, pretty vanilla, anyway when ya load it w/a DVD it will (sometimes) start to load then say "the player cant play as no CD is installed", something like that, other times, it will load fine, but sometimes ya have to load/unload 4,5,6 or more times, the CD being loaded doesnt seem to matter, it does it randomly, anyway is there something to clean or whatever, something that is making it have a problem reading the CD?? or is my player just going bad?

anyway, any info much appreciated,

thanks

*oh, and its not the CD's, i have played them at my girlfriends with no problems.........

Yes these things can be miserable. Try using a cleaning disc, there maybe some dirt on the pick-up causing intermittent problems. If that doesn't do it, then either the discs are unreadable due to scratches etc, or you may have to return the unit for warranty.

thanks, will try a cleaning disc (i didnt know they existed lol), if that dont work its back to the dealer for a new opne i suppose, i'm sure its not the discs they arent scratched and play fine at my girlfriends.

Are you using DVD recordable disks? Sometimes, certain brands don't play well in certain DVD players

Try a cleaning disc as suggested. I hope it's not a problem with the laser reading the disc. That's what happened to my RCA DVD player. It worked fine
for a few years then the laser wouldn't read the DVD. It would show no disc
was loaded even though there WAS one in the player.
