does anyone know a way to record movies directly from my Dvdplayer/reciever(really good sony) onto my camera(sony cybershot). W/out pointing the camera at the TV that is. If you need to see the back of my stereo just let me know.

Or is this just a pipe dream??

May I ask why you want them on your camera? Correct me if I'm wrong but cybershots are all digital still cameras.

I don't really need it on my camera, I really need it on my computer, so I can edit movies and stuff like that. (just for fun) So if there's a way to put it on the computer w/out using the camera that would be great. I know there are a couple programs that transform DVD to MPEG but they cost around $70, and I just dont have that kind of cash right now.

It would also be convenient to only record certain parts of the movie so I dont have to edit a 2 hour movie into 3 minutes of differant shots.

And the cybershots do take video. At least mine does, its a newer version. The 7.2 Megapixel one.

I think you don't have any choice but to get software to do this. Fortunately, there is free software that will do this. I've never used it, but I found some here:

Here are some more programs that you can try for free:

I don't know if any of this software will give you an MPEG though. DVD Decrypter (first link) gives you an ISO of the DVD. I don't think there's any way to put a DVD on your camera though. It's just too much data.

Edit: This program may also be helpful: http://www.dvdr-digest.com/software/dvdshrink.html#downloads I think it will give you video from DVD.

thanks a lot man, ill check those out tommorow after work, and let you know how they work. I dont need it to be MPEG, it can be just about any video format, but i just thought that MPEG was the most common, and the easiest to work w/.

I use DVD shrink to rip the DVD and then nero 7 to handle it from there, either convert it to MPEG4 or just burn it straight to another DVD
