I bought several DWO models from a member here. I love the rubber-over-molded scales on these and the Black Horse models.

However, I need to take them apart for cleaning. They're pretty gummed up. These models have a pivot pin that has two small holes on either side of the handle, and they look like they'd take a small spanner type bit. I have nothing that comes close.

Once I can get them apart, I can file a slot in each, but the problem is getting them apart in the first place. Any ideas?

You could try either a cutoff wheel if it is small enough to hold at a 90 and put a slot in it that way, enough to let you get it out anyway. Or if that won't work, try taking a flat head tracing and grinding away the middle and edges untill you get it to fit. Thats what I would try anyway! Hope it helps

You may not have to take apart, have you tried brake parts cleaner? Should be safe for the synthetic handles it is for the rubber bits on brake calipers etc. Don't breathe it and do it outside.
