I've seen references in the forum to applying dye to stag horn. Does anyone know how this is done? Is it as simple as simply mixing up the color you want and tossing the stag in, or are there steps and processes to ensure you get the right color and penetration?I have a nice staghorn that I'd like to age. Any help is appreciated.

I don't know how to answer your question, but I do have a little trivia for you. The reason that Sambar Stag has a rich brown colour is that it is soaked in potassium permanganate to kill fungus and bugs. Potassium permanganate is a very strong brown dye.
