Dyed Tasman

Well i got bored with another yellow knife and decided to do something about it.

I started out with yellow tasman salt and ended up with this

i used orange RIT fabric dye. just followed the directions on the box

I figured it was RIT, though wasn't sure if you had to use red to get this color. Thought the dye might mix with the yellow to form another color, but am glad to see orange still produces orange. Very cool.

Does the dye wash off or is it a permanent color change? Looks cool, but just wondering how well it willl hold up!

Its pretty permanent. I dyed my yellow Atlantic Salt blue a few months ago and it has held up without any fading.

If you spend a long time in the water, especially a heavy chlorinated pool, the dye does fade a little. But you can just dye it again if needed. I even used RIT color remover to remove 90% of the dye to dye the knife a different color

Didn't know they made that. What color was the knife originally? Not sure if it is possible, with good results anyway, to take a black g10 or frn handled knife and change the color to something else.

It does not remove the original frn color, it removes the RIT dye if you are not happy with the results

Lol, I think I read the post wrong. I read it as a RIT product that removed color vs a product that removed RIT color/dye.
