Dyeing FRN Scales (Salt Series) ?

As the title states. I was wondering if people could give me a little advice on the subject matter. I got my orange sprint run Spyderhawk, and it's a knife I quite like, the orange is cool but maybe a tad bright for my taste, it makes sense if you risk losing it in water or in the woods somewhere, but I feel like I'd like it just a bit more if it was a different color.
I was (wrongly) under the assumption that I could just take it apart, but apparently the Salt knives can't be taken apart.
Now comes the question, dyeing it, I did my little bit of research and RitDye in the powered form should work, and I need to go darker (much brighter isn't possibly anyway
:D)
I am thinking of trying a darker purple or blue, maybe a crimson red, if that fails/Isn't to my liking I go black.
Can I just dunk the knife into the dye up to where the blade starts/fully immerse the knife? I was wondering if it might mess with tolerances if the lockbar and blade go into boiling/hot water, so I just want to be a little cautious and see what people think/done.

Thanks

The liquid dye solution won't hurt the metal parts, though it may discolor them. It should be easy to remove from the metal, though.

Thanks Bill, I will give it a go next week then. I wasn't really worried about the metal changing color, more that it might distort the FRN in some way (metal against plastic and alll that) but others have done it so I'll just try it out. I'll post some results once I got them.
