Dyeing Micarta - Techniques and Suggestions?

I've made the plunge and have a few Beckers on the way along with some micarta scales. I saw one set done by Enluzenment where he used red RIT dye, although the photo made it look brown. It was really nice looking. I wanted to get some suggestions on colors and techniques, and also wondering if I shouldn't just leave it natural (green, I believe) and let it develop it's own patina. All thoughts are welcome.

Thanks,

Greg

You can go darker with rit, but not lighter. You can make any color that you could make by mixing paints of the same color (the green of your scales + whatever you like). So obviously black is the easiest. Boiling with a bit a vinegar added has worked for me in the past

I boiled mine in black RIT dye. They didn't get black...just dark brown. I liked them better stock. Oh well...
I think I only boiled them for 30-45 minutes. Maybe they needed longer.
I saved all the dye and poured it back into the bottle.
If I give it another go I will post here and share the results.
