I want to dye the brown g10 on my 0561. Anybody have experience dying g10, especially of this color? I was thinking dark blue or maybe a very dark purple. Any tips?

These scales were originally earth brown, kind of a blah reddish tan. By maxing out the yellow, and then shifting toward green w/ navy, I was able to get the olive I was looking for.

Dunno which brown you're dying but the darker it is, the more difficult to shift. Just remember you're not dying OVER the brown, you're simply blending the current pigments w/ your new ones. And no, Rit dye remover has no effect on colored G10.

Pretty dark, relative to earth brown. Browns are shifted toward either the reddish, or the olive-- yours appears reddish. When I dye I use only the 3 primaries (R/Y/B), so I can better control the outcome. You might try red, just to see how far you can shift it (you will end up w/ a brown much redder than currently, for sure). Then shift w/ blue a bit at a time, to see if you can get a purplish hue. If you start w/ navy I'm afraid it will quickly end up too dark. However if dark w/ a bluish hue would be acceptable, go that route-- navy only.

What knife is this? Looks good.

It's a BM 805-1101 M390 w/ a set of coarse peelply scales. Left the edges unsculpted, just toned down the raw corners w/ s'paper. Grippy!!

Thanks for the picture! I guess it doesn't turn out too vibrant, sounds like I just need a new scale if I want to complete the look.
