So I'm interested in dying my micarta inlays on my Kansept Accipiter. I've done some looking online and I'm left with a couple clarifications. I've dyed G10 before.

1. Do I use Rit All purpose or Rit Synthetic? I know you use synthetic for G10, but idk about micarta.

2. Anyone have experience with adding vinegar? Ive seen some say to do it, others not. Whats the purpose?

3. Do I need to sand the micarta first? If so, what grit?

Any help is appreciated.

Haven't tried it yet but from all I've found, you want the Rit synthetic. I just need a spare (disposable) pot to try this with.

goodwill. they sell cheap pots that you might not want to cook in, but will work great for this.

I believe the vinegar is there to increase penetration of the dye by breaking down the binder of the m icarta on the outside so the dye can penetrate the fabric.

I've used the dollar store Aluminum pans on top of a cookie sheet to dye AR magazines and it worked great. I'm interested in how this turns out. If you get a chance please post the route you went and pics when you get them done.
