As far as I know, it's essentially impossible. The material is solidly proof against water, and is so heavily resin-impregnated that there's just nowhere for the dye to go.

Thx for the quick answer, thought i read on 1 of the gun rags it would take dye...maybe have my material cornfused!Anybody with a worthwhile suggestion shout it out!THX

I successfully dyed some G-10 black using Rit Dye, the stuff only costs a few dollars a pack so it can't hurt too much to give it a try. If you want anything other than black you'll probably have to start with something white. If black is what you want it should work fairly well on anything.
Rather than throwing the dye out after using it I stuck it in a Nalgene bottle for future use, it has worked pretty well so far. If you ever want to dye something temperature sensitive you can stick it in the bottle without heating it up and leave it for a few weeks, that worked pretty well on some soft plastic.

search around the bk&t forum, some guys there have used RIT dye with pretty good results. I guess it all depends on the material used, maybe canvas micarta absorbs the dye better but I haven't done it so I don't know...yet. I might experiment with some homemade canvas and check how it goes.

I know you can successfully dye a lot of plastics, particularly clear ones (Ruger 10/22 magazines are a common subject for this) as well as some other semi-porous materials, but you're not going to get any significant penetration, I'd think. I could be entirely wrong, though!

What color do you want to end up with? G10 is available in all sorts of colors, bright or dark.

Their for 1 of my ESEE`s, and their black linen micartas a lil to close to greyor salt & pepper for my liking.

UPDATE-Well I went for it...use Kiwi liquid black shoe polish. They came out great,I let`em soak in the polish for about an hour, hung`em to dry overnight, then left`em in a tub of water to see how badly they`d "bleed"nuthin!nada!zero, been wearing 1 or the other almost daily(over a week now)and no runs yet,I`m kinda new here so as soon as I read up on posting pics. I`ll put 1 up of the 2 ESEE`s I did.

Thanks for the update, didn't think about using shoe polish. Did you use the quick shine bottle stuff with the foam squeeze top?
