Good Day.

Recently purchased a couple of 5"X10" 1/4" sheets of Dymalux. One of my grandsons wants a hunting knife with "bright colors". Can't say "No" to that.

In any event, I am aware that Dymalux sheets are not "perfect" when you purchase them. One was good, and the other one has a noticeable bend on it.

Is there any way(s) to get rid of the bend prior to the usual scale work?

Thanx.

How much force does it take to push it flat? I'm wondering if Corby or Loveless bolts would work to keep it in place.

When I place the piece on a flat surface (glass), the bow is just under 3/16".
Thanx for the tips and the video.

That's a big bow, who did you buy it from? I constantly get bowed material from the same place. I'd consider returning it if it has a 3/16" gap.

Since it's resin and wood you could try to warm it up gently with a heat gun or a hair dryer and clamp it to a flat surface. Do not overheat (only as warm that you can handle it with bear hands).

So last night, I tested a piece. I cut a couple of pieces the size of an average knife scale.

I gently heated it up with a heat gun, put the two pieces in a vise overnight.

Checked them this morning and the bow decreased quite a bit. Finished is off with sand paper, and I think I should be good to go!

Thanx for the tips guys...very much appreciated!
