So...I know this is not an earth-shattering idea, but I thought I'd pass it along in case anyone else like me has issues with the teeny lanyard hole in the mid-size handles fitting double strands of cord in them.

Keychain splitring surrounded with gutted 550, ends melted together
Now I can quickly & easily remove/add the lanyard
The ring also sort of acts as a stop at the base and is large enough to fit a gloved pinky when sliding back on the handle for light chopping.

Quiet, cheap, and effective (for me, at least)
Gonna try it for a while and see if it's a smart addition...:)

Very nice idea =)

I have employed the same technique on lanyards for keyrings but never thought of putting it like that on a knife. Seems like the paracord will also prevent the ring from wearing away at the coating on the inside of the hole.

Good stuff

Good eyes. ;)

I fed the 550 on first, then fed the ring through the handle hole.
It spreads the ring pretty wide, but once you get the cord to re-feed
on the ring, it all come together.

I like it! Very clean looking!

That tan paracord looks great with the canvas scales!

BTW, I really like your fabricated slide lock lanyard as well.

Good work,

It does, but not perfectly...at least for my application - not jumping out of planes anytime soon!

So how do you tie that slide lock or what type of knot is that.
That looks like a pretty nice setup.

I got the idea from fellow member Paracordist
The knot is a Lanyard Knot (aptly enough) from gutted cord.
Get the knot created, but not totally tightened and then feed the lanyard through the center.
Done correctly, the strands will be positioned on either side of the lanyard - both top and bottom.
Tighten 'er up, carefully trim and fuse ends. Viola! :)

I used the same idea to make a quiet and non-reflective single point sling mount for my AK pistol until I can get it SBR'd!

Wrapped a heavy split-ring I had laying around, then made a loop under the grip from the mounting nut and out the top to the split-ring.

It's worked so far!

Cool beans bro ......I like that idea as a lanyard.... :)

I did something similar on my LMF army firesteel . made a large loop that went from firesteel handle to lap over rod and a slider knot to secure it.
