E&E vs Survival Kit

E&E kit: small & concealable ,Basic items need to get by .
Survival Kit: large kit,to provide for Family / kept in Vehicle or home/base camp

I've always thought of a survival kit as an assortment of essentials for keeping on your person and for keeping yourself alive until you can self rescue or be rescued. I would differentiate this from a BOB or a truck bag that could possibly be larger and contain a greater collection of useful items.
Until the topic came up here in the RAT forum I had never heard of an E&E kit. Well I bought the E&E kit to use as a survival kit. It contains many of the same items I would have packed into a homemade kit. With the exception of the handcuff key Aside from this key, I can't see much difference from a personal survival kit. I won't pretend to know what it's like to be in an E&E situation but I'm having a hard time imagining what other tools one might use from a small kit while in such a predicament. A set of lock picks perhaps? Some sort of poison? A zip gun? IMHO the difference is mostly semantic but I'm interested in hearing what some E&E experts might have to say.

Well, from what I see, it is something along the lines of:
A Survival Kit is meant to get you out of trouble. The main idea is to help you survive, while being found if lost. It is meant for you to set-up a permanant shelter, and stay in one place so you are easiest to find.
A E&E kit is meant for the opposite. To keep from being found, to evade the enemy. Of course it will have the same essentials that a survival kit will have, but in a different color, more subdued.

You know I think there are a as many definitions of what makes a PSK ( and in fact what PSK stands for Pocket survival kit or Personal survival kit) as there are blokes on the net.
I have two pocket kits (1 a Doug Ritter modified) and another that I can put in a small belt pouch with a few other bits that then becomes a small belt sized kit.
1 larger belt kit, a always in the truck kit and a BOB type depending on where I'm headed.
My E&E kit is for avoiding enemy forces, normally the missus at THAT time of the month when she finds a new knife invoice.

Sounds good, then I have a 10lb E&E kit in the Vehicle 
come to think of it,all I assembly is E&E kits . If needed to be found I can be but all my kits are subdue in color

IMO:
An E&E kit is to get you out of somewhere -- no matter the situation.
A survival kit keeps you alive once you're out.

I guess I kind of set both of mine up the same way. Never really thought about it much.
My "survival" kit is in an altoids tin. Fishing gear, meds, water purification, razor blade, bandaids, iodine wipes, ect.
That goes into my bag. My bag has all kinds of goodies in it and it goes on all my little excursions.
When I get the RAT E&E kit, it'll go into my BOB so I have one less thing to think about this hurricane season.
