I just aquired a large fancy bowie make by Mr. Smith. It's marked E.G. Smith Montana Territory in a circle on the ricasso. I was able to find out a little from a knife dealer. He started making knives in Montana from the late 30s or early 40s up until the late 80s ....I'd like to find out more about Mr. Smith and his great knifes...any help or additional information would be appreciated.

I was given this forum over the weekend while at the Spokane, WA Gun show wherein I was advised that there had been several inquiries about Mr. E.G. Smith and his various works. E.G. is still in Montana, and although in frail health, continues to build knives and other accouterments along with his son Jody, who is a 2nd generation knife maker. Jody's work is a proud testament to his father's teachings, and many examples of their work are displayed throughout shows all over the country. Please contact me should you have any questions or wish to view their latest pieces for your collection.
