E-mail services

I've noticed that folks here use a lot of different e-mail services.

I've been using a free Yahoo account for a while now. I've been too lazy to change it, but I'd rather have something that's faster, has more ways to work with it, and doesn't end in yahoo.com.

How happy is everyone with their e-mail?
What bugs you about it?
If you had to get a new service, what would you look for?

Sign up for free Juno.com e-mail. You also get (limited) free internet access with it. I've had my account for years. Recently I got a deal on their paid full ISP service as well.

The big deal for me is, a free account without the yahoo/hotmail stigma, and you don't even need to go online to access it. Just connect to the e-mail account by modem. You easily can go to internet access from there if you want to.

I don't have a lot of experience with different systems. I had Netcom and Bell Atlantic.net. Pretty much the same, except I had to be online to access them.

The usual spam works its way in if you're not careful about who you contact I hate the expression "marketing partners" -- otherwise known as "the whore from whom I bought the list with your name on it". When Juno "partners" they have the decency to put ADV as the first three letters of the subject in the e-mail heading.

You can set up different Juno account mailboxes for dummy names. Of course you can make other folders besides the Inbox, Deleted, and Sent that they provide.

lmao, you mean Juno has come full circle and is now respected?

About a year after I got my Juno account, Juno was the only hosted email site that wasn't accepted as your "primary email adress" for online transactions. It was a long time after that Yahoo and Hotmail got painted with that stigma.

Long time ago, that? I got my e-mail account in 1996, never had a problem with acceptance. Juno just merged with Netzero -- birds of a feather. I gather they are pretty big now.
