Wasn't someone looking for an E-Nap from Thailand? Contact me, I have some information. PM, answer post, or use the e-mail button at the bottom of the post. Or try paranormal internal communication.

funny you say that, Rusty...

I rarely get online at home and for just some reason decided to do so tonight...

Anyway, I've been looking for a good E-nep and am excited to see what's on the table.

Dan, you should know by now that I'm nothing if not accomodating!

Got the ESP messege, though it was a little "Rusty" (Ah-ha-ha-ha-ha!) Sorry, couldn't help myself. :D The contact has been made, so the
E-Nap question will be answered!

Hello, and welcome to the Himalayan Imports subforum.

I recently acquired an E-nep. However, this thread is 14 years old and probably ought to be retired. I suggest that you start a new thread with your question in the HI Cantina subforum, which is more appropriate for discussion of non-HI knives.

As a matter of fact there was something about E-neps in a recent thread in the Cantina. The thread headed "Recent additions." Here's the URL:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1266351-Recent-additions/page41

Now that I look at the posting, it's not actually about E-neps, but Aranyik blades, and provides some hints that allowed me to track down an E-nep with a web search. They are relatively inexpensive.

I moved this to the Cantina where it is as david suggested more appropriate.
I'll leave open for the time being for the link.

Did someone say e-nep?..

Dont hurt to have a couple E-toh's and a latin machete either. Since this pic I also got another Latin Machete from Aranyik without a handle. Got to get busy on that one I guess.

The one I recently bought looks just like this, except mine has four pins in the handle.

I have to say, it feels very clunky in the hand, like an axe, nothing like any of the HI blades.

However, it was dirt cheap and seems pretty much indestructible.

Mine is an exact match for the one in your pic. And your description of the feel is also spot on. BUT the rock saw blade steel used is VERY similar to the spring steel used in Khuks so barring getting one that was just plain poorly forged (burn the steel while forging ect) or poorly heat treated it should last through a lot of years of hard work. And I have only heard of the poor forging/Heat Treating happening with the forgeries not the real Aranyik ones.

I was told by a supplier friend who carried carloads of these things to the Aranyik district in Thailand for resale and he told me they were made from 5160 saw blades just like the Khuks we get. He was selling during the Coup and the military would not let you carry any handguns but you could carry a carload of knives:D and they wouldnt bother you. We became interdnet friends during the whole mess but I havent heard from him since. He updatedme as the government was trying to take their families land from them and he was willing to fight for it to the death. Hope hes ok but I havent heard from him. Kinda makes me worry. Hes not selling on the internet anymore either. When you buy these blades they can come from many differnt "Kamis". Like most they dont put identifying marks on them. I have noticed that on one of my favorite Kamis that he puts two red epoxy dots on the blade on the ricasso so If I see that then I know his blades are superior to most. They are barely noticeable and wear off fast but dont matter after you get one.
The ones you get from Aranyik trading also come from the Aranyik markets in bulk but they may get handles and even some final touch-up and sharpening before they sell them. The E-neps pictured here appear directly from the markets as is. Thats why they are very reasonably priced. They are in fact great values for the money! Id buy another in a second without consideration if I needed one. Most of the blades are very similar in shape, balance etc. but the handles are where you need to be careful of. Some handles are too heavy and throw the balance off of an otherwise good blade. This is only on the E-Tohs tho and not the eneps. Still great blades at a great value.

I haven't herd from Miles in weeks. I'm somewhat worried.

Im not talking about Miles btw. Dont know what he's up to? He used to buy from Aranyik District also from what he told me. From the looks of the samples pictured here im guessing he still does. I wouldnt worry on account of what i said. Hes prolly just busy like Aunti Y.
