E-stores to buy Kershaw knives!

Hi there.

Maybe we can´t talk clearly about dealers here in the Forum (is it free propaganda?), but I have a doubt...

I´ll gonna buy one Cyclone, one Tactical Blur and one RAM. I found three good e-stores (one of them I knew and already used - AG. Russell), but the prices are a LOT different among them!

I mean... I was intending to buy at Knife Center this time, but all the models that I want are cheaper in Knife Supply. And the difference is more than 15, sometimes 20 dollars!

My question: Why so different ? I mean, I don´t care about the difference, of course, but does exist the risk of buying an older model, with an inferior steel in the blade ?

I know that Kershaw are top notch blades, and don´t use inferior steels in their blades, but does exist the risk of, for example, the Cyclone made in 2008 with a better blade or material than the Cyclone made in 2004 ?

Sorry about my english... I just wanna know about the possibility of those "cheaper" Kershaws of Knife Supply be older models, with not so good steel or other materials (and that´s why they´re cheaper...).

And the Tactical Blur / RAM ? Are they all the same steel and materials, since ever ?

Am I just paranoid ?? :D

Thanks in advance!

I was looking ate Knife Works and Knife Supply, but K.Supply has cheaper prices than K.Works.

I´m just afraid that they are older models, something like that, to justify the cheaper prices.

What do you guys think ?

is deal spotting allowed in the kershaw forum? if so ill add to this list but i dont want to endanger any toes in the process.

NO ADVICE FOR YOU!!!!!!!! jk, for some reason just thought of the soup nazi episode of seinfeld

Guys (specially the Mob guys... hehe), please:

1- Is the Cyclone the same since it´s release ? Same steel, same materials, or it has changed during the last years ?

2- And the Tactical Tanto Blur ?

3- And the RAM ?

(sorry about my ignorance... I´m still learning)

Some smaller dealers may have knives sitting on their shelves that haven't moved and they're selling them at a lower price -- if they've been there long enough, they may even have bought them for less. You really have to ask them what steel it is.

The FEEDBACK: Good, Bad, Ugly forum is a good place to ask about dealers. It's also a good idea to shop with a reliable dealer even if it seems a bit more expensive -- find out what the shiipping costs are and the more expensive dealer may turn out to be as good a buy, with less risk of old/damaged stock, out of stock and where's-my-refund, or poor shipping practices.

The Cyclone (large and mini have always had 13C26 as well as the RAM.
Not sure about the Tanto Blur.

Don't be sorry for asking questions......if ya don't ask, ya won't know. ;)

Thank you so much SVincent.

I am decided to get one Cyclone and a RAM (excellent steel), but I´m just afraid the Tanto Blur that my dealer has is still the old steel.

I think just the new ones has the same Sandvik steel...

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

No problem Federal. Just let us know what you think about
the Cyclone and RAM when you get them home. It's always
nice hearing new feedback from a fellow knife knut.
