Bugout gear isn't terrible, but it's also not great. Eagle Industries stuff is pretty decent, and there are plenty of other manufacturers, like Maxpedition, ATS Tactical, Spec Ops Gear, and Tactical Tailor that make decent but reasonably priced packs.

If you're limited to stuff you can find on a military base, I'd say go with the Eagle, it's definitely worth the extra cash. Some of the stuff CamelBak makes is also pretty good, and there should be plenty of that at your PX/Clothing and Sales.

Also, if you're looking for more detailed info on bags, check out edcforums.com.

Eagle Industries is a great value. I have a lot of their gear and it beats similarly priced gear IMHO. I bought some similar Blackhawk gear and was disappointed in it because it was very inferior and almost the same price as Eagle industries.

For PX/BX options, the military Camelbak packs I purchased have been very good but I think I got better value out of Eagle Industries.
