Early 105 sheath question

Found a 1-line 105 (pinned) but the sheath doesn't look like other sheaths I've seen. Not much experience with early sheaths. It is a flap sheath. The flap is much longer than others I've seen, almost half the length of the sheath. The belt loop on the back is also very long, again, much longer than any I've seen. The snap is a smooth chrome snap. Buck is not stamped on the snap or sheath. If "105" wasn't stamped on the rear of the sheath I wouldn't have thought it was correct. The construction quality and stitching also seemed a little coarser than I'm used to. Didn't have a camera with me and didn't buy the knife, price was a little high, but it's still nagging at me a little. Does the sheath sound correct?

I'm going to say no, but I'm always skeptical. All flap over sheaths say Buck on them, whether its on the snap or on the flap, the smooth snap sheaths were only on the collar type sheaths.

Here is a one liner 105, it looks to have a normal flap with 'Buck' on this and the snap. It just doesn't have '105' on the back of the sheath as this was prior to that stamping. DM

Thanks for the replies. It is nagging at me because the sheath was stamped 105 on the back just below the belt loop.

I have a flap over sheath with a smooth snap. It's marked Buck on the flap and 118 on the belt loop. It has the tooling marks along the edges of the belt loop.

I went back and checked all of my old one liner sheaths and none of them had smooth snaps. They all had Buck on the snap. Even the later collar type sheaths had Buck on the snap. There just aren't any flap over sheaths with smooth snaps. Maybe you have found a one off sheath. It sounds fishy to me though. They didn't use model #'s on the one liner sheaths anyway. The sheaths had Buck on the snap and on the flap, It had embossed lines that ran down the belt loop and the belt loop was sewn on, not riveted.

"If you look at the back of those sheaths, is the model number stamped ON the belt loop? Also, on the back, is there a single silver rivet with no hole in the center? I call it a "dimple rivet".
Off the wall questions I know but in the 67-68 timeframe Buck had a company called Atchison Leather making their sheaths. In 1969, the operation was brought in house.
The Atchison Leather sheaths will be as described above and have a plain snap.

I went back and did find one, a 119 sheath with the model number embossed vertically on the belt loop with a smooth snap, but it did say Buck on the flap. Roger did say that Buck wasn't stamped on the sheath at all just a model #. Sorry I miss spoke.

Dave, Good move to mention the Atchison sheath's as those were a bit different. My sheath has the lines framing the flap but no 105 on the back and no rivet. DM

I recall there was an embossed line around the flap but don't remember one on the loop. There was a bright rivit at the bottom of the belt loop and one inside the loop near the top. "105" was stamped horizontally beneath the belt loop. My gut feeling at the time was sheath didn't seem right but the 105 stamp on it is bugging me. Wish I had taken a picture, in hindsight I had my phone with me.
