If you have an early version etched BUCK 110, would you compare it to this one. I've been told that it may have been re-etched, and I'm certainly not sure as I haven't seen another one to compare it to.

I believe it truley is a first version, type two, but not sure about the etch being originial.

There's a poor pic of a 1st version/etched on pg 506 of Blades Guide; the etching is lower down on the tang than yours...just about where the blend line would be, if it wasn't smoothed out...

hi again ,
i have seen this verson knife two times on ebay and the etch looks like it is right... both those i seen before were high like this...
on many knives the etch wore off if it was light to start with and some only have the b or bu showing
if any one polished the blade it was gone... so some are out there and not marked any more!!! its a keeper!

hkingdom, There is a very good picture of an etched one on page 36 of The Story of Buck Knives by Tom Ables, it matches the one you show here perfectly.

I would say that yours is original, not redone.

After looking at the photos in the books, it looks right to me also. Thanks for the input. As Dave says, It's a keeper.
