OK, if you've been following the 110 threads recently you have read DarrylS's post of a very amateurish looking 110FG on eBay, which some easy mark bought...

...Well, here it is... :D

I can tell you that contrary to what the seller said, it does appear to be handmade...I can see definate file marks running crossways through the scales & liners...The rockerbar pivot pin also has tool marks on it; no reason for that...

The blade does look pretty good, so it's not a total loss...if it's a fake 110FG (that is, a filed 110)...

So, would anyone with more expertise than me care to venture an opinion if they think Buck may have tried to hand-make finger grooves with filework??? I have several projects ahead of this, so if I do decide to strip it down, it won't be for a while... ;)

Trax:
Refer to page 507 in Blades Guide, Finger grooves were not introduced until the eighth version 4 dot 110 1981-85. The 1 pictured looks like 1 that was customized, by somebody:rolleyes:

Trax,

Good snag:D.

I would think that Leroy would be able to answer that. He does check in here, but infrequently. Maybe just e-mail him the scans and your questions...I think he responds to e-mail, be better than waiting and hoping for him to check in here.

Maybe, just maybe it was done by a Buck employee, and Leroy would know who:eek:. Preston

Doesn't really matter...I have a couple big end mills here; I can pretty much equalize the grooves...of course, they'll look deeper...heh...skinny little handle with a big fat blade... :D

BTW: This thing is *dangerous*!!! I usually open by pressing on rockerbar with my thumb, index finger beneath...and push the blade with my other hand...as soon as you release this blade, it snaps shut!!! On my finger!!! Nope, no blood...it's dull... ;)

I had some time today, so I decided to even up the grooves and see what it looked like...

I don't think I like it...I think this is prime donor material...what do you guys think???

 ...:thumbdn: ...Phewww...If I drank , I'd drink to that Trax...Big time DONOR......:barf:

I'll just leave it up to you Trax, you'll do right by it:D. Preston

Put it back on ebay.... Describe what you have done with it. Advertise it as an ultra lite 110
